Heyo, Patrick here.
As many of you may know, i am the admin of this message board. If you dont know what that means, I basically keep things in order and make updates (like this guide . I have also appointed 2 moderators that assist me in carrying out that task. They are: Jay and Steven.
Steven is Head Moderator, and I am the Administrator. If you ever have any questions or concerns about anything pertaining to this message board, please know that you can contact them or me by sending a Private Message. (To do that, click on one of our display names. Then at the next screen, click "Send Private Message." There you can type out a message privately to whomever you want to send it to. This also works for the rest of the members.)
Making An Account
If you are reading this as a "Guest," you are not logged in, and thus can not send pm's (private messages) or post anything. If you would like to interact with others on the message board, you must first make an account. To make an account, first look under the login box and click "Create New Account." Follow the on-screen instructions from there. Please only make an account if you are going to actually use it. If you make an account and then never post or interact, it will eventually be deleted by me for a lack of postation.
Obvious Rules: (These are not the only rules, just the most important. Always respect others on this message board, and you will be find.)
- Always respect others (this may seem obvious, but it is sometimes overlooked)
- Please let the filter do its job if you feel the need/want to use "advanced" language.
- Please do not use offensive content or potentially offensive content in your display name, avatar, signature, or posts. Doing so, in certain situations, may result in a temporary disabled account (a.k.a. temporary ban) for a certain number of days, or a permanent account ban. If the problem were to persist after a temporary ban, a ban on your IP address and/or email may follow.
- Please do not harass or make explicit jokes/pranks on someone. Even if you think it's funny, the other person may not. Doing so may get you one of those coveted temporary bans.
- Please make legible posts. Try your best to NOT make a post as follows: ya i ply m3 d otr da it wa cool i got powned i hngry L0000LLOLOL!!1!!!!!!.
Try to make sense in what you are trying to say, so others can reply without asking what in the world you are talking about.
(obviously, the example above is exaggerated to some extent)
- Please obey the moderators They privaleged powers, such as the ability to modify any member's post if it contains offensive content. I will be aware of such instances by seeing who edits what at the bottom of a modified post.
Getting Started with Your New Account:
Now the more interesting part for the newer members, and possibly older members. I will now explain several features of the forums that every member should be aware of.
Avatar
First off, when you first make your account, it will be kinda boring. Time to spruce it up a bit! Let's start with you avatar. Default is blank, but to change it...: Click on you display name, or on the "Profile" button at the top of the page. Then click "modify profile." Next, scroll down a little till you find "Avatar URL." Once you find it, find a picture on another website (but don't close the message board window). Right click on the image, and select either: Copy Image Location, or Properties (on the pop-up window, copy the URL location.) Then paste that URL into the Avatar URL blank. Now adjust the height (0-100 pixels) and width (0-100 pixels). This step might take several trys to get the picture shaped correctly. Once you're done, click "Modify Profile" at the bottom.
Themes
Next ill explain how to change the forum's appearance on your account. There are several themes that have been created, and all they do is change how the forum looks once you login. To change the theme, go into your modify profile page, and scroll down until you get to a selection box. There you can choose from the list of created themes that are available. Once you're done, click "Modify Profile" at the bottom.
Display Name
Alrighty, next id like to explain how to change your display name. Over time, you may not like the screen name you chose when making your account. To change your display name, go into your modify profile page, and look under the password boxes. Type your new appropriate name in the blank. Once you're done, click "Modify Profile" at the bottom.
Modifying Posts
Another thing often not seen by new members is the ability to modify your posts. Ever click "Post message" and then realize that you wanted to say something else in your post? No problem. At the top of your post, next to "Quote," will be a "Modify" button. Click that and you will be brought to edit your post. Continue by clicking modify at the bottom.
Other Stuff
Thread Limit
A Thread Page Limit has been added onto a few threads. This is for threads that would not do any good being locked, but not turn into a 30 page thread. So, once a thread accumulates a set number of pages, the oldest posts will be deleted until the page count gets to the specified amount.
History of RGN Forums
RGN started out over a year ago, as TDUNation with the release of TDU for PS2. We were fired up about that game, and it was the main subject of the boards. Since then, we've dusted off our mc3 discs (that we said we'd never play again) and have gone back to the game we love, MC3. So along with that, I decided it would benefit all if TDUNation went byebye. Thus, MC3Nation was born. It utilized the same board, just the title changed. Nowadays, our MC3 playing time has dwindled, and we found ourselves talking about many other racing games. So, i decided to change the name again (last time i hope) to Racing Game Nation.
Welp, i think that's about it. I may add some things in the future, so everynow and then check for updates. Thanks for reading my guide and i hope it comes in handy if you need it. If you need any help with any of the features listed above, or anything that i didn't mention, please contact me in a PM and we can figure it out.
Peace out!
Patrick
