Just got my truck today!! (saturday) 2002 Dodge Ram regular cab, 3.7V6, shortbed. It's not too terrible on gas (18 city, 22 hwy). It's alrdy got a good Sony stereo in it; now all that needs added is a sub. And the exhaust is a little to quiet, so i plan on putting a louder muffler on it. I will take some more pics later, but these are what i took w/ my phone b/c my camera is somewhere in a box at our new house (getting rdy to move soon). ;D

Dont get me started on pickups, if you are not using the space to transport something, you now lose all respect from me in your motoring decisions.

Hey, atleast it's not a Ford Im thinking about getting some Nokya Arctic Purple headlight bulbs to get a nice whitish/purple light ;D. Pretty cheap to at only around 20$. Probly get them off of Ebay, but here is a link to the bulbs: www.automotivelightingusa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_18&products_id=385And maybe a decal for my back window of my stereo: OR Idk though, b/c these are 6" wide, which is kinda bigger than i would like. I can custom order but im thinking itl cost more than the 4 bucks the 6"ers cost. stores.ebay.com/CJs-Decals_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkmOh and Phil, just b/c 99% of UK'ers drive small, get-in-a-wreck-and-u-are-crushed cars, doesnt mean i have to!!! Ive seen the cars ppl drive in England, and they are wayyyy to small lol. I did see like 2 H2s over there though lol.

heh, my dad's got a ford F-350. It's also red, which is I think one of the best colors for a truck. ;D

Pat most people here drive sedans and range rovers or other alternatives. It's called sensible car choices, why have a huge engine and a s**t load of space you won't use?
Don't try tell me what people drive here, news flash, i live here. I know trucks are big in the USA because alot of trucks don't get sold anywhere else in the world but there, so i have some sort of evidence.

It is when here in Europe a V6 is what powers cars like the Noble M400, or the S-Type R (400bhp), not to mention the japanese Evo FQ400 with a V4-DOHC with, yup 400BHP. We used to have a Jag ourselves with a 3Litre V6 supercharged which has ran well over 150mph. Now the truck is never going to be fast, its never going to be practical to use, its only redeeming feature is a large carrying capacity, or possibly pulling power if it was a AWD with enough torque, dont know how much torque that RAM will have.
If Pat would explain to me why he got a truck instead of trying to make a comment about what people drive here, maybe i'd understand more.

a v6 ain't that big of an engine phil =/ Yep, it's a 3.7L V6, which is also the same engine seen in the newer Jeep Grand Cherokees, which for a V6 is kinda small. Phil i guess within the last 4 weeks every1 in England has sold their peuogots, citerons, smart cars, and benzes lol, cuz that's the majority of what i saw my whole 2 week trip. Anyways enough of this truck flaming thing! ;D

2 weeks V 18 years in about 2-3 weeks.
In the city centres (where you likely went and the minority of the UK) yes you find small cars, it a city, small car in city = sensible choice.
I havent flamed trucks at all, i even stated their best purpose, i just don't see why you especially want one, you still fail to give me that simple reason.
Sidenote: why are you comparing your truck engine to an american SUV engine, theyre basically variants on the same thing, SUV + flatbed & tailgate instead of the extra seats = normal pick up, e.g. H3, H3T.

Omg, phil. Do you have a grudge against a truck or what? The choice to get a truck was not entirely mine... my parents wanted me to be safe if i were to get in a wreck. If i got some tiny car, like a Civic, or Accord, and got hit by a F250 (which is a popular truck around here) at say, 40mph, I would prolly die. But, if i am in a bigger vehicle, like a truck for ex., i would have more structual reinforcement around me to keep the seating area from caving in on me in a crash. Also, the norm for teenagers in La. is to want a truck. That's just the way it is here. I was actually a weird one b/c i wanted the regular cab, where as most want the 4door. The roads here are wider, fuel is cheaper (more like was... it's been on the rise recently), so that means bigger vehicles are going to be more popular. Having a truck in the UK is not as popular as it is in the states. Over in the UK it's obviously more popular to have a sport sedan, coupe, or wagon, because the vibe i got was that trucks are more for a buisness. Here, not so much. If i brought a F250 over to England, it would be a complete road hog, where as here it blends in. Having the truck has come in handy b/c ive had to haul things around in the bed b/c we are moving to a new house within the next cuple weeks. Granted i wont use the bed everyday, but it's nice to have. Plus, the regular cab isnt as huge as some trucks ppl use, so it's ez to handle, park, drive, etc. It steers like a car even. If you look at what my family drives, mom has a 00 Grand cherokee w/ a st8t 6, dad a 94 sierra extended w/ a v8, dad's company car w/ a V6... so it's normal over here to have bigger vehicles with bigger engines. idk why u brought up jap cars though. It's obvious those smaller engines can put out loads of power with all the parts that can be added. Idk how else to explain it, nor do i know what the big deal is about me getting a truck just like millions of other ppl.

All you had to do was mention you wanted the structural integrety and you do intend to use the flatbed. What annoys me is the people who buy a truck, just because its big and they want to feel powerful, which is silly. I don't think you're going to use it every day im not silly, but you will use the capacity for something other then taking beer to a party . Oh and by the way polution is so bad in LA, when someone was road testing a Jaguar Xk (just happened to be that car no british thing here) the air coming OUT the car exhaust was cleaner then the air going in when in the centre of the city, why? because so many people use big cars they don't ever need. You have a reason to have a truck, so i have no gripe with you. We used to have a medium pick up ourselves, we used it when we moved to get rid of lots of the old stuff in the house because we re-did the whole place, then we got rid of it cus we'll never need it again. In short, i hate car drivers in trucks, not truck drivers in trucks, because if they dont need a truck at all, why have it? Oh and an SUV was crash tested against a small european car over here on TV and the driver in the SUV came off worst (even though it was less damaged) because it had no proper safety measures (crumple zones etc.) at all and the little Renault city car driver would've walked out of the 40mph head on driver to driver impact. Structural integrity can actual do more harm then good as it moves all the crashes impact onto your body instead of the energy being dispersed around you through crumple zones and what not. Not sure how the RAM is for safety, Dodge isn't generally to bad these days, but its an older model so who knows. EDIT: Checked the NCAP Database for safety ratings (1 star being lowest 5 being highest.) DODGE RAM 1500(US) 2002 on Front+side+head airbags **** IIHS 2260 DODGE RAM(US) 1998 to 2001 Dual front airbags * IIHS 2240 What model is yours?
