Of course the die-hard sony fans would buy them for that much, and the more practical buyers would buy one around this time around

Yeah, I'd never pay that much for any gaming system, no matter how nice it is.

My friend at college got himself a 360 elite, he was pleased with what he had for the first week until he got the 360 'ring of death' and it died. Losing all his data along with it. In this state is actually possible to leave it on, take the cover off and fry an egg on the overheating console. Which ruins the whole ps3 grill joke picture, cus the 360 does it for real! It's on YT sumwhere.

o well good for him. All he has to do is bring it back and get a new one since it was only 1 week old. Hes a moron for not backing up his data in the first place tho. They make these things for the 360 called memory cards...

He shouldnt need a back up in a week, Im sure Microsoft intended the consoles life span to be MUCH longer then a week.

true. In a gamepro mag i saw last week, they gave the PS3 a C rating and the 360 a B+. Basicly the only really bad thing they said about hte 360 was the 25% failure thing, meaning there is a 25% chance that one will break. But, that is better than what it used to be.
What i plan on doing (since the ps3 did infact drop to 399 here, and the 360 is at 349$) is when i get the cash, get a 360 @ gamestop and like 1 game (probly FM2 or PS) for it and if i dont like it or something, i have a week or so (idk how long the return deal thing is, steven might kno) to return it, and since it's not much more id just get the ps3 after that. I want a 360 more than a ps3 so that's why id get that first.

wow on ebay, there are several refurbished ones that have brand new parts which basiclly fixes the problem that caused the "ring of death" for like 154$
