Ok so, we're all trying desperately hard to pull off that perfect slide, here's a place to help each out, set ups, techniques you name it, here's what I have so far.
Set up Max power - min grip: Stock springs, sways, brakes (optional) and tyres, everything else max it.
Techniques Firstly, some cars won't drift (AWDs, exotics, anything with to much grip) I recommend an RWD tuner.
Ok, so you're kitted up ready to go, get up to around 70mph at first, then try drifting your car from one side of a straight road, to the other, to the other etc. Release the throttle upon direction change and pump it if you're straightening up, this breaks traction and loses speed a little if you're near the top of your gear.
Get comfortable with this, then try incorperating that into some turns (avoid the mountains the turns are to open, stick to the city and avoid large uphills), you'll have to drift on a low angle to stop the car from slowing down, try to avoid shifting down as much as possible, shifting back up without losing your drift is not easy. It is possible to shift up, do so on a direction change right at the limit of your current gear.
Mainly it's practice, I'll make a video soon to demonstrate where I am with this so you get the idea what I mean. You won't do it perfectly from the off, as always practice is key, small continuous improvements (Kaizen!) will get you there.
Remember as an old drifter on MC3 once said.
The Way Forwards, Is Sideways
PS: Someone who's a mod of this section sticky this.

also i found that you can tap the brake and e-brake at the same time quickly (while holding gas) and it acts like a clutch kick. Kinda keeps the RPM's up mainly. =]

Pumping the throttle simulates a similar effect as well, breaks the traction which in turn gives more revs as the wheels spin.

Basically the way I have it so far, I can drift up every straight and round anywhere i want/is possible at low speed. I don't think the physics will allow much more.

what cars have u found to be the best in?
Im really lovin the 70 challenger! =] Still leraning how to use the Stang GT and the RX7 though, although ive heard they are pretty good.
As soon as i get the 1 mil deal over w/ and get free cars/parts, ill try and rate every car for drifting for every1. =]

240Sx and RX7 are all I've tried properly. The S14 works well but not as quick as the FD.

RX7 is a nice lucy loosey. Also the S14. The mustang is nice & handles well at high speed drifting. I drifted on 5th gear & worked nicely thru the corner.

Manual of course! As any real driver does. The AI automatic shifter is too unpredictable and can prevent your from taking advantage of your car's full potential.

Agreed, manual > automatic.
